Atoms

1. The main characters in the development of the atom were

Democritus- said that everything is composed of atoms, which are physically indivisible

John Dalton-came up with the atomic theory that all matter is composed of very small indevisible particles called atoms, that atoms of the same elemen are alike in weight and other properites and atoms of different elements are different in weight and other properites, that compounds are formed by the union or seperation of definite numbers of atoms, and that atoms don't divide in chemical reactions, only whole atoms unite with other atoms

J.J. Thomson- discovered the electron through his explorations on the properties of cathode rays

Errnest Rutherford- used gold-foil experiment to discover the proton

Neils Bohr- said that electrons moved around the nucleus and came up with the Bohr model which said that atoms absorb radiation when the electrons abruptly jump between states

Chadwhick- discovered the neutron

Otto Hahn- discovered nuclear fission where the nucleus of the atom breaks up into different nuclei

They each came up with different discoveries and developments that helped come up with the atom

They each were doing different experiments and each had found out different pieces of the atom

2. Each scientist came from different backgrounds, they each had a different reason for trying to find different parts of the atom, some could afford the materials needed for their discoveries some could not

3. It is not a law which means it cant't be proven, there are two parts to the theory that are not right

4. So we can understant how everything in this world that is composed of matter works and come up with new discoveries and ideas with the information that we know

  1. Todd can you elaborate on the two parts of the Atomic Theory that are not right?

  2. Can you further explain how the neutron, proton, and electron were discovered.

  3. Todd my good man.
I do like all the information that you do have.
But, you have come up short with telling me when all these discoveries happened.
On another note Bohr was kinda more important to the atom then 3 lines.

  4. Yes Mr. New56 and EVal03 I do understand where you are coming from but the general topic of this blog was to just give a general comprehention of the scientist who discovered the marverlous atom not to write a stupid parograph about their lives and so on, I do think I did a splended job on this blog and so greatly do not appreciate your negative influence on my wonderful work
